the hardest part is letting go.
it's diffucult to believe things you most definitely do not want to happen are happening for a reason.
really, it's diffucult to believe anything negative is happening for a reason... and in a world filled with such pessimism it's damn near impossible to embrace optimism and find the beauty when you're right in the middle of the struggle of it all.
when you can look back at the past, though... and all those cliches athletes always use [i left it all on the floor, i put my heart in it, i gave ten percent more than physically and mathematically possible] are relevant to your situation... you cannot be mad! there's even a little consolation in it.
so, while this week ranks easily in the bottom five of all one-thousand and fifty-three weeks since march of 1984 i've been around for... i still believe in my own legendary capabilities beyond this dissappointing and trying and neverending seven days. if you can't see it, believe in it... there's nothing i can give but proceed and continue.

i know my mom sees it. she holds me down incessantly and is the reason why i will never stop believing in myself, in love, and the rest of the world's capacity to love as we do [we could both work on calming or zeal].

after a seventy-two [and some change] hour all liquid diet... my favorite thing of the week was today, my first meal since: a sufficient ground rosemary garlic chicken sandwich on foccacia with a potato salad on the side [plus the blue moon i washed it down with].

i've been thinking a lot about the future. the beauty of it's possibilities, but about also the unavoidable trepidation that's indelibly connected to the uncertainty of it all. i think we all crave a sense of control, and being in control of everything in and around your life isn't practical.

i started an all-liquid diet after a tremendous feast wednesday night and have been drinking nothing but water and various juice blends from trader joe's since then. its been a challenge [and i still haven't eaten] physically, but more mentally. i feel healthier, i've had a lot more energy, and i've been sleeping a lot better. but i've felt my emotions and senses heighten in sensitivity [in a good way. not quite superhero like, but in that direction] and have been thinking very precisely about everything. i think its required a lot of discipline to maintain a calm and determination while going without food for three days...

and its the discipline that sometimes gets lost when envisioning the future. you start worrying about all these things you can't possibly control. its all about the journey and the struggle, its a perspective i try so hard to hold on to but a way of thinking i unconsciously stray from occasionally. i takes discipline to avoid getting caught up in the light of the destination and appreciate the present, the beauty that is each step of the journey to even get there.

i've never really done anything specific on easter, no traditional family function... but i was thinking, even though i'm not the most religious of people, that i'd like to have specific family events like a lot of people have on easter sunday when i have a family of my own. whether it be typical thanksgiving-christmas holidays or just some made up every so often thing [a once a month family friday pizza movie night, a reoccurring bbq with all the homies and their families, etc.], i think holding on to and/or create new traditions, positive and family oriented events that happens regularly is important. i want cultivate an environment of appreciation and love and community, a space where uncontrollable laughter is abundant. most of my favorite, happiest, most vivid memories involve a group of loved ones. i want my kids, nephews and nieces to have similar experiences to ones my siblings and cousins have had.

anyway. i hope everyone had a nice easter sunday [even if, like me, you didn't do anything special].
